Rainbow Beach is fast becoming the new resort town on SE Queensland coast. It is aproximately 2½ hours from Brisbane Airport, 1½ hours by road to Noosa or less than an hour by beach. Hervey Bay domestic airport is 1½ hours away.
From Brisbane take the Bruce Highway heading north and look for a right hand turn as soon as you reach Gympie.
A much more enjoyable route is to take a 4WD along the beach north of Noosa turning off just before you reach the wreck of the Cherry Venture and then take a left turn to cut across the national park behind Double Island Point. All driving on this route is on sand and can only be done in a 4WD at low tide with the tyres let down. To reach the beach north of Noosa you have to take the ferry at Tewantin which crosses the Noosa River at regular intervals during the day.
A copy of the tide times is very useful as many adventurers have come unstuck by going at the wrong time.
Surrounded by National Park, Rainbow Beach is the gateway to the well known Heritage listed Fraser Island.
Four wheel drive to the Cherry Venture Wreck, or to a Double Island Point taking in rolling surf, magnificent coloured sands and kilometres of sandy beaches. Walk to the Carlo Sandblow one of the nature's marvels. Go boating, fishing, or stop at one of the beautiful sandy beaches for a picnic, swim or laze away on the silky sand.
Enjoy the great restaurants at Rainbow Beach. The two clubs and the hotel offer great meals for less formal occasions.
A sand mass over 15 hectares in size, Carlo Sandblow offers an exceptional view of the towering coloured sands and the coastline from Double Island Point to Inskip Peninsula, and Fraser Island's southern tip.
A stroll southwards from Rainbow Beach will lead you to dramatic cliffs covered with swirling, colours sands which make for a spectacular sight. The cliffs extend along the beach to Double Island Point.
Featuring clear blue waters, dolphins, and an historic lighthouse, Double Island Point is a picturesque headland with amazing views of the ocean and the beach.
The Rainbow Beach Horse Rides offer a truly unique riding experience along the Rainbow Beach, considered to be one of the five most incredible beaches in the world.
